Do you have counseling experience or certification?

Lynn Hamilton brings 25 years of experience as teacher and advisor to the profession of educational consulting. Lynn established her practice in 1982 and worked in New York and Connecticut prior to relocating to California in 1985. She has placed more than 2000 students in schools, colleges and special needs programs in every region of the U.S. as well as Europe, Australia and Asia and her experience and reputation are nationally recognized. Lynn has an undergraduate and graduate degree in education, as well as certification in learning disabilities, with continuing education in counseling.

Wendy Mokler has been a professional educator for more than 30 years. Her vast experience comes from having worked as a high school counselor, a classroom teacher, a home hospital teacher, and an administrator of two special education programs for the Santa Barbara School District. She has an excellent knowledge of secondary curriculum as well as college and university entrance requirements having helped countless students of all ethnicities and economic backgrounds prepare for and get accepted to college. Wendy has an undergraduate degree in History and English, and a graduate degree in psychology with an emphasis in counseling.

How long have you been an independent counselor?

Lynn began her experience in educational counseling in 1981.  Wendy has worked as an Independent counselor since 2005.

How long has this counseling center been functioning?

Hamilton & Associates has been counseling students since 1984.

Do you have experience in a high school or college?

Lynn has been college counseling in public and private schools on both the East and West coasts, as well as assisting in application review with several private colleges. Wendy taught high school for 15 years and was a high school counselor for 9 years. 

When did you last work on a high school or college campus?

Lynn has consistently worked on high school campuses and currently consults with a local private school. Wendy retired as a high school counselor in 2005 and retains excellent relationships with all the area high schools.

Are you familiar with the academic program in my high school?

Lynn and Wendy maintain comprehensive knowledge of both public and private institutions’ academic profiles.

Do you visit college campuses regularly?

Lynn and Wendy travel extensively throughout the United States and internationally visiting schools, programs and universities to evaluate their environments and curriculums.

Have you attended conferences, college counseling institutes or workshops?

Lynn regularly attends Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), The Secondary School Admission Test Board (SSATB), Learning Disabilities Association (LDA), National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP).  Lynn and Wendy attend National Association of College Admission Counseling(NACAC), SAT, ACT and College Board  conferences throughout the year, as well as numerous certified conferences and seminars, often as a speakers.

What professional organizations do you belong to as a college counselor?

Lynn has held active membership in NACAC, WACAC and SSATB, IECA and LDA organizations, and others since beginning her consulting career, and has served as a board member and presenter for several.  Wendy is a member of NACAC, WACAC, and HECA.  She is an associate member of IECA.

Do you keep in touch with former clients?

Yes, Lynn and Wendy enjoy keeping in touch with former students and hearing about their college experiences.
