Lynn Hamilton brings 32 years of experience as teacher and advisor to the profession of educational consulting. Lynn established her practice in 1982 and worked in New York and Connecticut prior to relocating to California in 1985. She has placed more than 2000 students in schools, colleges and special needs programs in every region of the U.S. as well as Europe, Australia and Asia. Lynn's experience and reputation are nationally recognized, and she travels extensively throughout the United States and internationally visiting schools, programs and universities to evaluate their environments and curriculums. Lynn also provides college counseling to several public and independent schools.

Alisa has a strong background in education. She worked teaching English in Australia for four years at the Sunshine Coast English College where she taught the Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English. Prior to that, she taught English in New Zealand. At Hamilton & Associates, Alisa offers support and guidance to the college admissions process and conducts research and alternative options for students post high school (i.e. gap year opportunities). In addition, she is working to develop a database for international colleges and exchange programs. Alisa enjoys assisting in the development and editing of college essays. She was hired as an Admissions Reader for the University of California, Santa Barbara three years ago and continues to evaluate freshman applications. She finds the process rewarding and insightful.

James has been an educator for the past twenty-seven years. During that time he has been a teacher, a coach an administrator and a school founder. In 1998 James founded and ran the Oakley School for fifteen years. During that time he was a board member on The National Association of Therapeutic School and Programs for 8 years where he was the Ethics Chair and later the Treasurer. James' vast knowledge and experience in both programming and family systems and his passion for working with students and families lead him to educational consulting. In 2014 he and his wife, Kathy, founded Meyer Education and Family Services.

James is known nationally as an expert in the field of therapeutic school programming. James specializes in boarding school placements and therapeutic placements. James is involved locally as a lacrosse coach and serves on several boards including the Therapeutic Consultant Association.

Kathy has been working with adolescents and their families for the past 27 years. During that time she has worked in private practice, schools, community mental health centers and residential settings. Kathy has been an Independent Educational Consultant for 10 years 8 of which were with a nationally renowned firm on the East Coast where and started their Western office. Kathy is an expert in therapeutic placement, parent coaching, crisis intervention and mediating complex family systems. Kathy developed the comprehensive approach Meyer EFS is known for, including visiting students in the field at residential settings, wilderness programs and schools to empower them to be a part of their treatment process. Kathy is involved with community non-profits, consults with the local school system on mental health issues, facilitates teen groups and teaches workshops in the local schools.
